About This Site

The information to be presented in this site is the result of more than thirty years of research gleaned from existing Scottish records and a variety of information available in archives, histories and books. Where appropriate sources are provided so that the information can be verified.
My initial intention was to present the result of my research in the form of a book, but books are finite things with a beginning and an end. I realised as my research went on that I didn’t know what or where the end might be, that there was always new material coming to light and that it might be many more years before anything like a complete story could be told. Somewhere down the line a book might be possible, but not now.
Although I am familiar with computers and smart phones, I know little about web design or social networks. There is a huge element of trial and error involved in putting this site together and the learning process continues.
So that is why things are the way they are. I still find the whole process a challenge, technically, and I am sure things may not always go according to plan, but I hope people will be patient. I think it might be worth it.
